Crystal Ashike was born in Page, Arizona, and grew up in Crystal, New Mexico, United States. She is an award-winning self-taught photographer. As a child, she started practicing with film and instant Polaroid cameras. When she got her first digital camera it opened a new world for her to capture light and space and share her Native American culture. She is influenced by numerous of artists from different industries, but she admires Vivian Maier photography. She continues to work on her skills as a photographer and reporting stories for Global Press Journal based in Washington, D.C. as a Tribal Nation Reporter. She currently lives in Durango, Colorado and attends Fort Lewis College.
